Halston clearly took inspiration from an earlier era and the has elements of 1940s and 1950s fashion. It is impeccably made with a lavish amount of pleating, ruching and draping of the wonderful fluid silk jersey fabric. This extends to the low crossover bust which folds delicately over the gathered wide waistband. The dress is a crossover skirt in a tulip shape.
