To change a smoke alarm battery Remove the smoke alarm cover (it should unclip from the base with a slight twisting motion) Take out the old battery from its holder Replace with a new battery (check manufacturers instructions to make sure you install a battery of the right voltage) Put the cover back on Press the test button to check the new batteries are working (the alarm will sound) Never take out the batteries of your smoke alarm without fitting new ones straight away
If you suspect that you have these small beetles in the house, check your childrens rooms
Repeat if you see streaks of discolouration (smoke can stick to walls and create a light brown film coat)
