By rotating the box two complete turns anti clockwise the sand fills a reservoir and the sand then falls onto the wheel and drives a series of gears by means of which the acrobat performs his tricks

A 17thC Dry Oak Charles II Period Side Table c.1680 reserved This example is rather shortOrigin: English Period: Charles II Provenance: Unknown Date: c. 1680 Height: 29. 75 Width: 42 Depth: 25. 5 The seventeenth century oak side table having a three plank top with chip carved frieze above gun barrel and incised turned legs to block feet and conforming stretchers, the whole in beautifully dry aged condition, surviving from Charles II period England. The table shows an old split to the front right section though it remains stable and tight.
