He was born in 1983, son of artist Ray Shorty and nephew to artists Richard, Jim, and Eddie Shorty. Duran has enjoyed drawing and painting from a young age and has provided outdoor signage artwork to Kwanlin Dun First Nation. Duran now works primarily in wood, carving paddles, plaques, masks and more. He likes to create his own
