Power House Crane stone hut Beer Garden at PyrmontThe overhead gantry crane of the Portland Cement Works power house hangs suspended across the full width of the decaying interior, its rusted steel frame intact against crumbling brickwork. The powerhouse, constructed around 1902 and extended by 1910, was central to the Commonwealth Portland Cement Company's operations at Portland, NSW. Iron girders were imported from the same English manufacturer that supplied the Eveleigh Street Railway Yards. Part
