Description

In between these reddish-brown teeth are even smaller teeth which together create striking bud imprints on the uniquely green to greenish-yellow colored leaf that is occasionally nearly translucent

The incredibly steep slate gray walls create one of the most beautiful canyons on the planet

I have seen dazzling green rosettes alongside Mex 157 growing up to 3' across and 2' high

Given its elevation and based on similar plants within their subfamily

Agave isthmensis Chiapas type locality form In between these reddish-brown teethIn the southern Mexican states of Oaxaca and Chiapas grows the dwarf clustering Agave isthmensis. Agave isthmensis derives its name from its native range in the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. The plants at the type locality in Chiapas grow at 2700', and highly resemble the popular cultivar Agave Kichijokan. It may be that this population is where that mystery cultivar originated. Agave isthmensis had been treated as a form of Agave potatorum
